The record label that gave the world Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash and scores of iconic artists is taking its legacy on the road with Sun Records, The Concert. Relive the golden ages of rock-n-roll with a multi-talented cast of singers and musicians reviving all-time hits, rehearsed in a replica of the celebrated Sun Studios itself.
A two-hour theatrical concert, taking place on January 23 -25, will transport audiences back to the roots of rock ‘n roll. The show, rehearsed in an exact replica of the Sun Studios, will feature musical instruments from that era, and star a cast of skilled musicians from the UK.
Revisit the blessed recording studio where the distinctive sound we know and love today was crafted from gospel, blues, hillbilly, country, boogie and western swing by musical visionary Sam Phillips.
His trailblazing Memphis studio brought us That's Alright Mama, Great Balls of Fire, I Walk the Line, Whole Lotta Shakin', Bear Cat, Blue Suede Shoes, Good Rockin' Tonight. . . hundreds of hits that would influence the world of music for generations to come.
Sam Phillips was a patient, honest man and a perpetual optimist. In 1954 he combined a modest 19-year-old Elvis Presley with musicians Scotty Moore, Bill Black and then DJ Fontana to create music that infused country and RnB. It transcended musical and racial barriers. The 'Sun Sound' was born.
The QE2 — or Queen Elizabeth 2 — is a floating hotel and retired ocean liner, which has been in operation in Dubai since April of 2018. Theatre by QE2 is a 515-seat venue aboard the hotel, which is home to arts and entertainment events.
Return to the birthplace of melodies like “That’s Alright Mama,” “Great Balls of Fire,” “Blue Suede Shoes” and hundreds more for three nights onboard the QE2. With era-specific instruments and the unshakeable charisma of the performers, the concert is bound to have you dancing, singing and celebrating the early days of rock.
Join in Theatre by QE2 on Wednesday 23 and Thursday 24 January for a Theatre show like no other.
Or throw your dancing shoes on and join for Supper Club on Friday 25 January including a five course meal, free-flowing beverages and an evening full of Entertainment from the Sun Records Show.
