One quick look into the growing poetry scene of Dubai and the UAE in general shows a large number of events taking place that are sure to have the region's literary enthusiasts abuzz with excitement. The region's numbers of poets are increasing and all of them share their view of the world during these spoken word events. But other than spoken word, here's one of Dubai's best secrets - an evening of poetry written by people who have changed the world delivered in languages all expats can relate and understand.

Emirati poetry nights, which is taking place at Burj Park on 1-2 December from 6-7pm is a free-to-attend event and this is an ideal opportunity to experience talented local poets showcasing their oratory skills. The art of poetry is an esteemed form of cultural expression in the UAE, and has been embedded in the local culture throughout history.
