A celebration of art and culture, Quoz Arts Fest 2019, at Alserkal Avenue on Friday 25 and Saturday 26 January 2019.
Alserkal Avenue , Dubai
25 January 2019, 10:00 AM
26 January 2019, 08:00 PM
The eagerly awaited Quoz Arts Fest returns to the alleys of Alserkal Avenue to celebrate community, culture and art this January. Friends, families and even pets are invited to delight in a slew of curated activities, exhibitions, live performances and more over two days during this dynamic culture carnival.
Titled 'CTRL+ALT+ACTION', this year’s edition centres on the theme of sustainability. The sixth edition of Quoz Arts Fest is gearing up to be the most diverse yet, with a focus on supporting home-grown artists and cultural producers. A dance programme, curated by Sima Dance Company, will feature local performers and invite the audience to get involved in dance performances across the entire Avenue. The weekend will also see buskers and DJs perform around the Avenue, with local musicians set to play their original music across the lanes.
Explore the range of exhibitions, from a showcase of Emirati wildlife at Mirzam by the EMF/WWF to product manufacturing that can outlive generations at ikonhouse. For those interested in more hands-on fun, ChariCycles and ‘Metal Art by Nikhil.es’ will both offer upcycling art workshops for children and adults. At the same time, CHI-KA, a contemporary kimono and art space, will be hosting an interactive class on the power of composting.
That’s not all happening at Alserkal Avenue. One sight to look out for is 'Putting for Pleasure and Politics,’ a group exhibition curated by NYU Abu Dhabi professor David Darts displaying nine artist-designed mini-golf holes. There is also a Reel Palestine public film screening on 26 January that you don’t want to miss.
The Quoz Arts Fest is a treasure trove of fun for the whole community. Free entry opens up a world of activity, from workshops and Alserkal Avenue tours to film screenings and live music with a mouth-watering selection of homegrown food trucks, alongside the Avenue’s popular dining concepts.
