Ski Dubai

12 April 2019

There are many malls in Dubai, one number counts 20, but perhaps the most unusual and unique in the world is The Mall of Emirates for its 1-degree Celsius, 22,500 square meter indoor ski resort, known as Ski Dubai. In fact, Ski Dubai is the first ski resort in the Middle East!

Ski Dubai is a unique mountain-themed attraction that offers skiing for every level. There are five ski runs of varying difficulty, height and steepness and a quad chair-lift. The longest run is 400 meters with a fall of 60 meters. The slope itself is 85 meters high and 80 meters wide. There are gentler slopes for beginners and indoor black runs for more seasoned, experienced skiers. Ski Dubai has the third largest skiing area in the world.

Ski Dubai also offers snowboarding and tobaganning. There is a 90 meter-long quarter pipe for snowboarders to perfect their tricks. Not into the winter sports? Ski Dubai also has an interactive Snow Park spread over 3,000 square meters making it the biggest indoor snow park in the world.

There are also many themed restaurants inside Ski Dubai, like the St. Moritz Café located at the entrance or the Avalanche Café at mid-station with views of the ski slope. Once inside, you might just forget that you are in the middle of an Arabian desert!

Ski equipment and clothing are available for rent at Snow Pro inside Ski Dubai. Professional instructors are on hand to give you your first lesson in skiing or snowboarding.

If you’re missing that cold feeling on your nose and want to experience snow, Ski Dubai may be just the fix you need. The entire snow park can accommodate 1,500 visitors at any given time.

The Mall of Emirates is owned by Majid Al Futtaim of MAF Holding and was opened to the public in November 2005. Like other malls, The Mall of Emirates has all the amenities: a fourteen-screen multiplex, a gaming arena as well as a great variety of retail stores.

Admission into the ski resort is allowed for a reasonable fee of Dh.130, inclusive of all gear, except hats and gloves, which are available separately for sale. Children should be accompanied by an adult.

Irrespective of whether you are looking to ski, or improve your skills through lessons, or join your kids to skiing classes here, it is better to do pre-booking, before you check-out the mind-blowing snow park or encounter real penguins here!
