Six-month temporary visa invalid if the holder leaves the country

15 November 2018

The six-month temporary visa that are granted to job-seekers in the current visa amnesty scheme, becomes invalid once the visa holder leaves the UAE, revealed the Federal Authority for Identity and Nationality (FAIC).

The visa does not offer the rights and privileges that are otherwise provided to those with residence visas. An FAIC official clarified that the visa is not a multiple-entry visa. This clarification follows the report that was recently published in a local daily last week that the temporary visa holders are free to exit and return to the emirate during its six month validity period.

This visa category costs Dh.600 and is offered to amnesty seekers who have cleared their pending fines.

UAE temporary visa

The Director of Residence Affairs at the FAIC, Brig. Saeed Rakan Al Rashid, mentioned that it is offered to those who wished to remain in the country, after availing the amnesty and seeking a job. However, if they are unable to find a job within that period, they will have to leave the country and return on visit visa. The temporary visas cannot be renewed after its expiry.

Temporary visa holders are not eligible to do any kind of work. For securing a job, an employment visa is a must. The officials have urged all people who are living illegally in the country, to avail of the remaining days of amnesty initiative, which ends on 30th November.

On the whole, temporary visa holders are not eligible to exit and return on the same visa, or renew the temporary visa or are not allowed to work under this visa.
