The residents of Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) have urged the authorities to establish a hotline or a website detailing the newly introduced rent cap regulation, for further clarification of their queries.
Three different rent cap regulations have been passed in Ras Al Khaimah during the past five months, and this has led to several confusions among the residents. The final version of the rent cap regulation was passed in the month of December.
Residents of RAK say that they are not getting satisfactory answers to their queries and that a correct explanation is required for the newly-introduced law.
The landlords and real estate agents are taking advantage of this situation, the residents said.
According to the residents, it is the responsibility of the government to set up a 24/7 hotline to receive the complaints from residents and answer their queries.
With the lack of public awareness from the end of government about the new rental regulation, residents are emphasizing on the need for lectures in clubs for the communities living within the emirate, apart from the English and Urdu translation of the law.
A senior official in the court said that the authorities would discuss the possibilities, adding that even the hard copies of the law would be made available soon. Posted on 17/12/2008
