Air Arabia, the first and largest Low Cost Carrier (LCC) in Middle East and North Africa, has announced the commencement of construction work on the 300 room budget hotel at the Sharjah Airport.
Gustav Pegel & Sohn has been appointed as the general contractor for the hotel, which is due to be completed by January 2010.
This is being carried out, following an agreement signed earlier, between Air Arabia and Rotana Hotels to manage property under their innovative Centro by Rotana brand, which offers affordable, superior-class accommodation and hospitality.
The property includes standard rooms and suites offering comfort and convenience for travelers passing through one of the fastest growing regions in the emirate. The Unique features of the Air Arabia Centro Hotel is the full casual-style dining area, wireless internet accessibility and entertainment, comforts such as swimming pools and gymnasiums, private meeting rooms and business centers, and a range of personal amenities.
According to Adel Ali, the Board Member and CEO of Air Arabia, this project is a part of Air Arabia’s strategy to grow ancillary revenues. He expressed his confidence that on completion, Air Arabia will offer visitors the complete travel experience and best value for their money.
Headquartered in Berlin, Germany, Pegel has been operational for more than 135 years now. The company is well-known for its capabilities in building, civil engineering works, multi-technical and maintenance services, across all major sectors and infrastructure projects.
Air Arabia, which commenced operations in October 2003, is listed in Dubai Financial Market, and is the leading LCC in Middle East and North African (MENA) region. It currently operates a fleet of 15 new Airbus A320 aircraft, and serves 41 destinations across MENA, Central Asia and South Asian regions and its main hub, UAE.
