A development plan for extension of Khalifa City was presented to KEO International Consultants, which still awaits approval from Abu Dhabi Municipality, reveals company sources.
The Dh.6bn development plan, in the form of an extension to the existing Khalifa City, in the vicinity of the new capital, defines the policy agenda of Abu Dhabi 2030. This includes providing services and amenities to complement the existing development of about 5000 villas.
The development area comprises 70 plots, located 25kms away from Abu Dhabi City Center, between the Khalifa City and Al Raha Beach. The time-frame for accomplishment is about five years.
The Director of Project Development at KEO, Uwe Nienstedt said that the area lacks recreational and services facilities and hence, a shopping complex and other social facilities such as a women’s club and a men’s club, apart from multi-purpose recreational area, business district and townhouse complexes are planned to be installed in the area.
“So far only the rough estimation costs mostly related to the infrastructure are given at present. The municipality is yet to take a decision on whether to develop the plots by itself or offer the opportunity to private investors, or selling land plots,” explained Nienstedt.
