The Dubai Biotechnology and Research Park (Du Bio-tech), a member of TECOM Investments, has revealed that its Dh289mn worth laboratory buildings will be launched at the Nucleotide Complex in September.
Being the first dedicated modern laboratory compound in the region, the Nucleotide Complex will offer flexible laboratory space for conducting research. The facility is named after the four basic blocks of nucleic acids, 'A, C, T and G’ wings, they form the main components of genetic material, and have been categorized as LEED-certified ‘green building'.
The four-storey complex has been designed by CUH2A, a leader in designing facilities for science and technology institutions. The Complex permits companies to carry out laboratory-based research and analysis, and hence the companies need not build their own facilities. All the DuBiotech subsidiary laboratories in the facility will follow GLP and ISO 17025 standards, while the laboratory activities will be regulated by Regulatory Affairs department.
Currently there are about 28 companies licensed by DuBiotech, which are operational at the free zone. DuBiotech is closely linked to Dubai Health Authortiy, UAE Ministry of Health, and other regulators to develop life sciences industry. The Executive Director of DuBiotech, Dr. Abdul Qader Al Khayat, said “The Nucleotide Complex indicates the serious commitment by DuBiotech to develop sustainable buildings that accommodate leading clinical research institutions. Apart from comprising the latest amentities, the Nucleotide Complex will have a pre-clinical vivarium, a lab for animal testing, which will be the first of its kind in the region. “
