24th December declared as official holiday in UAE

The Minister of Education and Chairman of Federal Authority for Government Human Resources, Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi has declared 24th December, Thursday, as an official holiday for the public sector to mark the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammed, which has been postponed from 23rd December.

A circular issued by the Education Minister stated that the decision is in implementation of the provisions of Paragraph 5 Article 100 of the Cabinet Resolution No.13 of 2012, and regulations of decree of Federal Law No.11 of 2008 on Human Resources in the Federal Government and its amendments, which defines the public holidays of federal authorities and ministries in the country.

Marking the occasion, Al Hammadi has conveyed his regards to President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Drown Prine of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of UAE Armed Forces, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and their Highnesses Members of Supreme Council and Rulers of Emirates.

He also congratulated the people of UAE and Arab and Islamic nations on the occasions. The people of UAE can anyways look forward to a long weekend ahead, as 24th December happens to be a Thursday.
