The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has announced changes in the minimum age for children starting school in Dubai, as per the Resolution No.24 of the UAE Ministry of Education (MoE).
The announcement, which came on 23rd February 2021 on KHDA social media channels, said that a child should be at least three years old to be enrolled in FS1 (pre-KG), and four years to be enrolled in FS2 (KG1) during the start of the academic year.
Earlier, the academic year for schools began in September, and it was possible to begin school in FS1 or pre-KG at the age of two, if the child would be turning three by end of December that year.

Children enrolling in FS2 or KG1 should be four years on or before 31st August for schools starting academic year in September, and the children enrolling in KG1 in schools with academic year in April should be four years on or before 31st March.
Same rules are applicable for children enrolling in KG2, provided they complete five years of age depending on the academic year of their schools (September / April).
