The UAE has emerged as the most popular tourist destination for 2021, the result of the unique offers from each of the seven emirates, coupled with improved confidence among tourists in the country, owing to government’s strong response against the coronavirus pandemic.

"Home to the popular tourist destination of Dubai, the UAE was the most searched for holiday spot for 2021 in 11 countries. Each of the seven emirates has its own characteristics, but they're all an excellent destination for some winter sun. Dubai has a futuristic style with soaring skyscrapers, epic shopping malls and long stretches of beach, Fujairah has some incredible snorkelling spots and Ras Al Khaimah draws beach lovers to its beautiful coastline," Kuoni said.

Among the other popular tourist destinations searched on Google for next year were the US, Canada and Egypt.

Dubai slowly and cautiously began opening up in June following weeks of restrictions to check the spread of COVID-19, and from 7th July, Dubai was open to tourists too.

According to Mamoun Hmedan, the Managing Director for India and Mena, Wego, mentioned that new set of agreements between Dubai and some countries after Covid-19 will bring in more tourists in the coming year.

"The success of the tourism sector in the UAE has been a model for many countries to follow. The UAE tops the list of the most attractive countries on the world map for tourism, due to the great infrastructure, array of entertainment offerings and its unparalleled tourism attractions," said Hmedan.

Furthermore, the UAE has taken the highest line of safety standards and precautionary measures to boost the confidence of travellers in all stages of travel, he pointed out.

Therefore, a huge increase in the number of tourists to the UAE is expected in 2021. The high confidence and the capabilities with which the UAE is dealing with Covid-19 plays a major role in attracting travellers, he added.
