A Federal regulation aimed at regulating recruitment of workers in the UAE, is on its way, reveal the ministry sources.
The Draft Law indicates that job-seekers for all sectors need to be subjected to oral and practical tests to ensure that they are suited for the positions before being recruited for jobs in the UAE, and prior to issuing the visas.
Even expatriates who are already in the UAE will have to undergo these tests for renewing their visas. Only those who pass the tests can have their visas renewed, while the others will have to leave the country.
A draft is being prepared, wherein the UAE embassies abroad will be responsible for conducting the tests for the workers. The draft stipulates the conditions to be met in each profession, and this will be distributed to all UAE embassies. The draft stipulates mechanism for selection of skilled workers.
A government body will be entrusted the task of helping those who intend to bring in workers to the UAE. This will be the ‘only’ body to receive applications for visas from government and private organizations.
The body will then send applications to the UAE embassies abroad for proceeding with necessary examinations for selected workers to check if they meet the terms and conditions specified under the guideline.
The new draft aims to focus on keeping the skilled workers to train the UAE manpower. This will help the country benefit from their skills and get rid of unprofessional workers, who hinder the demographic structure. Posted on 4/4/2009
