The Ministry of Education revealed that a major revamp in their human resources regulations, particularly, with regarding to hiring of teachers (both nationals and expatriates) in public schools, is likely in the near future.
The educational zones and councils will be offered increased flexibility in recruitment of teachers. The ministry plans to establish an institution that monitors the standard and quality of newly recruited teachers.
According to Director General, Ministry of Education, Rashid Al Nu'aimi, the current process of merely interviewing the teachers is not an effective option to meet international standards that the schools are looking for.
The new system will evaluate new recruitment based on internationally approved standards, wherein teachers should hold a special degree on their subject of expertise. Preference would be given to applicants with additional teaching certificates. Posted on 23/2/2009
