The Minister of Labour in UAE, Dr Ali Bin Abdullah Al Kaabi, has announced that companies in all sectors could apply for mission work permits for a period of six months for employees who are in their probationary period or who are in the country on a short term job, effective this January.
The Mission work permits would be electronically processed and the companies would be notified online.
The new rule stipulates that the six month ban will not be applicable to workers on mission work permit, in case they decide to discontinue their work during the probationary period. The companies owning less than 500 workers will get a 50% of their total labour force, as quota for mission work permit. Companies with more than 500 workers will get 100% of their total staff as quota.
