The Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department (DNRD) has announced that about 273,805 illegal workers have taken advantage of the amnesty, among which, 107,217 workers have regularized their residency status.
All branches of DNRD together, have issued about 166,588 out-passes to illegal residents. About 126,000 labourers have already returned to their home countries, while the rest are waiting confirmation of their flights out of UAE.
The Director of DNRD, Brig. Mohammad Ahmad Al Merri, have called on all illegal workers to come forward to regulate their status and either legalize their stay in the country or receive guidance for departure procedures.
The DNRD has once again warned all institutions and companies to refrain from hiring non-compliant persons, or face legal action. Appreciating the efforts and co-operation by various authorities such as the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Dubai Electricity, Dubai Police and Dubai Municipality, he said they will be honoured for their efforts in a special ceremony to be organized soon.
