Companies located in Free Zone areas, seeking to open an establishment record in Labour Ministry, will be able to avail facilities from the Ministry, for issuing work permits to their employees, even if they are working in non-Free Zone areas.
The Assistant Undersecretary at the Ministry, Humaid bin Deemas, revealed that employees of companies, which are registered in Free Zone areas, are not permitted to work elsewhere, unless they obtain a work permit. Bin Deemas revealed that to obtain work permit for Free Zone areas, establishments are first required to open an establishment record at the Ministry.
However, those who are in receipt of a work permit from Labour Ministry, already, will not be able to work in Free Zone areas.
Workers on Free zone visa, if caught working in non-free zone areas, will be reported to the Interior Ministry, and necessary action would be taken against them, as per new procedures.
Five companies have been registered in various free zone areas, so far, for regulating the status of their workers, and already 150 work permits have been granted to a company with establishment record, reveal Labour Ministry statistics.
