The violators of the UAE Residency Law will face strict action and penalties, with the amnesty period ending yesterday.
Apart from paying hefty fines, the illegals will also have to face deportation. For each day of overstay, the violators will not only face fines for each day, but the administration fee will also be raised from Dh.2000 to Dh.10,000 depending on the number of days over-stayed.
This rule would be made applicable to all those extending their stay beyond the expiry of their visit, residence, transit, tourist, and mission visas. Initially, the violators of residence visas had to pay a fine of Dh.100 per day for over-stay in the country, but had the option of paying less in case they were unable to pay the amount in full.
Now, with the imposition of new rule, they will not only have to pay original fine, but also have to face deportation.
