The First Career Fair by University of Dubai (UD) was held at its campus recently, which resulted in several students being called for interviews. Several of the chosen students will be hired within next three months, officials said.
The two-day event, organized by the Internship and Career Development Center at UD saw the participation of major companies such as Barclays Bank, Emirates Airlines, Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, Emirates NBD, Citibank, Dubai Islamic Bank, Dubai Bank, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Unilever, Dubai Customs, Oman Insurance Company, Pathways Resourcing, Ershaad.ae, and Shangri-la Hotel.
According to Adeel Al Amari, Emiratization Manager of Etihad Airlines, about 100 CVs from aspiring candidates were received, out of which, 30 will be called for follow-up interviews in Abu Dhabi and hired on the spot.
The interview calls will be sent within 45 days and on selection, the candidates will be offered essential training. They need not have any experience in the aviation industry. The focus on hiring will be on academic excellence and core competencies they possess, Amari said.
The Bank offers jobs in three categories for diploma holders, high school students and Bachelors degree and higher diploma holders.
According to Senior Recruitment Officer of Dubai Customs, Hassan Tarraf, the organization has 22 vacancies for immediate fulfillment, with the number of vacancies likely to increase this April.
According to Tarraf, the job market in the UAE is picking up with more fresh graduates. The graduates will be strictly chosen on the basis of their academic credentials, with good communication skills being an added advantage. Posted on 10/3/2010
