The Dubai Aviation Corporation, trading under the name flydubai, is a low-budget airline, established by the Government of Dubai in July 2008. Flydubai has its head office and flight operations in Terminal 2 of Dubai International Airport. Although Flydubai is not part of The Emirates Group, the Emirates Group supported Flydubai during its initial establishing phase.
Being the first low-cost carrier in Dubai, Flydubai has played a major role in the travel and tourism sector in the UAE, particularly during the past one year, with the airline having recorded major increase in passenger numbers from CIS, Europe and Gulf nations.
Flydubai maintains low operating costs, thereby offering lower fares. Booking at Flydubai is the best way to obtain best fares. The flydubai fare is inclusive of all taxes and a 7kg bag allowance. The World Travel and Tourism Council estimates that the direct contribution of travel and tourism to UAE’s GDP, will hit $19.9bn in 2012, and performance of Flydubai, the world's fastest-ever growing star-up airline, has been vital to this growth. The airline recorded steep increase in passenger numbers, particularly between February 2011 and March 2012.

Flydubai currently operates 78 regular flights per week to 13 different destinations in CIS countries, Eastern and Central Europe. Further, Flydubai’s GCC network is among the largest of all Middle Eastern carriers.
Booking for Flydubai can be done through any of the methods such as online method, Flydubai Call Centre team, Flydubai travel shop or through Flydubai Travel Partners.
Flydubai also accepts group bookings. A team of nine people travelling together is considered a group. Based on demand, special group fares are offered on certain routes. Group bookings can be done through the Flydubai Call centre.
When booking online, log on to www.flydubai.com and check out the destinations and lowest fares. The fare chosen by you will be inclusive of all taxes and 7Kg allowance for hand baggage. Extras can be added, if you wish to do so. For example, 20 Kg checked baggage allowance is Dh.50 per kilo. Then enter your personal details along with all other details requested, choose your payment option. Payment can be made through MasterCard or Visa. If you seek to pay cash, your booking may be on hold for 24 hours, so that you can make payment through any of Flydubai’s payment partners.

If booking is being done through Flydubai travel shop, the Flydubai team assists by booking flights, applying for UAE Visa, changing booking if required, paying for a booking and adding optional extras.
When booking through travel partners, Flydubai offers three types of fare, giving more choice and flexibility to suit your budget and travel needs. Irrespective of whether you choose "No Change", "Pay to Change" or "Free to Change" fare, they will include the booking charge, all taxes, one piece of hand baggage with up to 7Kg weight, plus a small laptop or handbag.
In short, whatever the type of fare you choose, it is best to book early and book online to grab the lowest price booking.
Flydubai offers several payment options. If you have booked online or through call centre, you can pay through MasterCard or Visa. If you are paying for your booking through a credit card, you may have to produce the card or photocopy of the cardholder's passport. When paying through credit card, a payment fee may be charged. You may also have to show the credit card at the airport before boarding your flight.
If you wish to pay cash, your bookings will be on hold for 24hours, so that you get to make your payment through any of Flydubai’s payment partners. If you have booked online, or through call centre, and intend to pay cash, you can pay at the travel shop, wherein a fee of Dh.50 per person, per flight, may be charged.

You are allowed to carry up to three pieces of checked baggage, but, the combined weight of all pieces should be less than the allowance you pre-purchased. Every piece should be larger than 75cm x 55cm x 35cm. However, both 30kg checked baggage allowance and 40kg checked baggage allowance are subject to availability.
Flydubai permits you to carry one piece of hand baggage weighing up to 7kg on board without charge. If required, you can purchase a 20kg checked baggage allowance for Dh.50 per Kg. If you wish to take more, you can pre-purchase a 30Kg or 40Kg checked baggage allowance for Dh.90 and Dh.150 respectively, depending on availability.
On arriving at the airport, go to the Flydubai hand baggage or check-in desk and pick up your boarding pass. They go through security and immigration, before heading for the departure gate.
If travelling without a checked baggage, you may have to arrive at the Flydubai hand baggage desk in not later than 60 minutes before the scheduled take-off. In case you arrive late, the airline may not permit you to travel, and no travel alternative will be arranged.
When travelling with checked baggage, you may have to arrive at the check-in desk less than 60 minutes prior to departure. You can purchase a 20kg, 30kg or 40kg checked baggage allowance and check-in up to three pieces.

The Flydubai connect helps in boarding on to another flydubai flight, without having to collect your baggage in Dubai, and without the need for a UAE visa. The fare collected will still be for one-way, including tax. However, you may have to pay for any extras that you may choose.
For instance, if you want to go to Khartoum from Doha via Dubai, you can choose your destination of origin as Doha and destination of arrival as Khartoum. The booking confirmation will be issued for Doha to Dubai and from Dubai to Khartoum.
Flydubai connect is available between certain cities, where the scheduled flights into Dubai, arrive an hour before scheduled departure, and connection time is less than 24 hours. Flydubai plans rapid expansions into other cities and destinations in the region.
When using connecting flights, Flydubai will either transfer your baggage to your connecting flight, or will accept you and your baggage arriving on another airline, provided, you hold a valid booking, carry the right travel documentation, have arrived atleast 3 hours prior departure of next flight, and arrive at the boarding gate no later 45 minutes before take-off.
Flydubai has an enhanced in-flight entertainment system, offering more music, TV shows, and movies, which is more than anything other low cost carriers can offer. The latest among the entertainment technologies offered by the airline is the fibre-optic technology enabling movies which will be shown in high definition in the air for the first time. It also offers the payment model, offering TV and movie packages from Dh.10, rather than former pay-per-show format. Passengers get to choose from Hollywood, Bollywood and Arabic films. The airline also offers news service from Emirates 24/7 in English and from Al Bayan in Arabic, keeping passengers up to date both during day and night.
Other Flydubai Services
Flydubai has partnerned with Al Masood Travel and Services, and offers scheduled daily bus services connecting Abu Dhabi or Al Ain with Terminal 2 at Dubai International Airport. The bus service will pick up and drop passengers on Al Nasr Street in Abu Dhabi, and at Sanaiya Road (in front of Al Masaood Travel & Services) in Al Ain.
The bus tickets can be pre-purchased for Dh.40 per person for each direction, or can be purchased directly from the bus driver by paying Dh.50 per person, per direction, based on availability. However, the easier option is to pre-purchase your ticket online. Another option is to book through the Flydubai call centre by calling +971 4 2311000 or through your local agent.
The bus tickets should be purchased at least two hours prior to departure. However, as the bus service is operated by a third party service provider, namely, Al Masaood Travel and Services, the complete responsibility of the bus journey is taken over by Al Masaood and Flydubai is not responsible for any aspects of bus service.
Flydubai offers a car rental deal too, through a partnership deal with a third party provider. The car rentals rates are said to be quite reasonable.
Flydubai has also partnered with Travel Guard, offering you an option to purchase a travel insurance policy for yourself and your travel companions when booking flights. This is called ‘Travel Guard for Flydubai’. This is designed to protect you, if under any unforeseen circumstances, you cancel your trip, or need to seek emergency medical treatment, or return home early.
