Yas Marina Formula One Circuit
The Yas Marina Circuit, located on Yas Island, a 30 minute drive from Abu Dhabi, is the venue for Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Designed by Hermann Tike, Yas Marina is the second Formula One track in the Middle East, with the first being in Bahrain. The Yas Marina Formula One Circuit has been designed as an Arabian version of Monaco, with the twenty one corners twisting through the man-made island, located off Abu Dhabi coast, passing by the marina.
The circuit provides five grandstand areas (Main Grandstand, West Grandstand, South Grandstand, North Grandstand and Marina Grandstand), with part of its pit lane exit, running underneath the track. It houses a team building behind the pit building, Dragster Track, Media Centre, VIP Tower, and Ferrari World Theme Park. Further, one of the gravel traps run underneath the West grandstand.
It is said that the circuit has some potential overtaking spots, with turns 2, 3, 4 and 5 being the ideal place for a car to get beside a fellow driver and overtake them. Beyond turn 7, the second longest straight on the Formula One calendar is ended with heavy braking chicane at turn 8. Finally, the long curve down to turn 11 has the potential for overtaking. While the pit exit of the circuit runs through a tunnel, below the actual track, a part of the track also runs through one of the on-site hotels.
Yas Marina Circuit is one of the largest permanent sports venue lighting projects in the world, which was earlier known as Losail. The surface of the track is made of Graywacke aggregate, with the surface material being well appreciated by Formula 1 drivers and circuit bosses, for its high level grip. It is the same material that is being used at the Bahrain International Circuit for the Bahrain Grand Prix, too.
On the whole, the Formula 1 track is a versatile venue that is beyond just motorsport, ranging from the track to the products and amenities that it offers for use of public and corporate clients.
In fact, Yas Marina Circuit is the only motorsports venue in the world, wherein, all of its grandstands are covered, with part of its pit lane exit running underneath the track for premium motorsport events.
Yas Marina Circuit boasts of a contemporary full-service meetings, conferences, incentives, and exhibitions venue in the Middle East, offering unrivalled backdrop for events of all sizes.
The Marina, positioned at the heart of Yas Marina Circuit, offers 143 yacht berths ranging from 8m to 90m, while there is additional visitor berthing provides for superyachts up to 150m. The Yas Marina is a complete service, modern facility, offering a range of services at the highest level, with world-class amenities on the doorstep.
