​Bloomberg Square Mile Relay

Bloomberg Square Mile Relay is a corporate race series that invites corporate and financial services firms to team up and compete for the title of ‘fastest firm in the city’. In groups of 10, firms will race a one-mile path displaying exceptional teamwork and spirit.

This is a fun race, despite what your competitive co-workers will have you believe. Teams of 10 runners take part in a 10 lap relay, each lap is one-mile long (that's 1.6km) and it takes you around the DIFC Gate Building. Competition gets fiercer each year with a number of newcomers bidding for the Dubai title, and many challenging their offices from around the world.

The quickest team gets crowned Dubai's fastest company and get bragging rights for a year.

It's going to be a big year for the annual global race with National Bank of Fujairah, Barclays, Lloyds, JLL, Deutsche Bank, PwC, ICBC and J.P. Morgan already on the books.

Starting at Dubai International Financial Centre’s Gate Building, the race runs a course along the newly opened Gate Avenue, a retail and fashion experience at the heart of Dubai’s business centre. Last year, the Bloomberg Square Mile Relay has introduced 'The Extra Mile' – a community-led initiative that addresses a unique social challenge in each city, creating an impact way beyond the finish line and giving runners the opportunity to make a meaningful and actionable difference to public health, education, arts or the environment of their communities, all through using the power of sport. 25% of each team’s entry fee will be donated to the Relay’s long-standing charity partner, Emirates Red Crescent, who will put the funds towards a year-long programme that addresses a cause chosen by the race participants. Runners will also have the opportunity to give back through service hours.

Bloomberg, the global business and financial information and news leader is the headlining sponsor for the Bloomberg Square Mile Relay. The inaugural race was hosted in London in 2007 and has grown to 12 global cities in its 11th year.

All those taking part and their supporters can enjoy the atmosphere in the race village with first-class corporate hospitality and plenty of activities from event sponsors.

The event does not stop when the runners cross the finish line; everyone is invited to join the official after-party with live music, food, beverages and entertainment to keep the celebrations going into the night.
