Deacon Blue at Irish Village

Missed live music in the great outdoors in summer? Cooler climes will return, and so will live music to the garden of Dubai’s Irish Village.

Join Irish Village as they welcome Scottish pop-rock band Deacon Blue to the stage on 14 November. This group from the mid-80s stars Ricky Ross, Lorraine McIntosh, James Prime and Dougie Vipond and is best known for upbeat tracks ‘Real Gone Kid’ and ‘Chocolate Girl’.

Deacon Blue return to Dubai for the first time since 2015 to celebrate their 30th Anniversary, a tour which started in 2018 and has seen them play their biggest ever headline show in Glasgow to over 12,000 people.

After 30 years they are still going strong, but it’s been far from a bump-free ride.

After enjoying huge success with late-1980s hits including Dignity and Real Gone Kid, by 1994, after four successful albums, they had called it a day.

They worked sporadically in the second half of the 2000s, but more than a decade passed between LPs, a barren spell that was broken with the late-career resurgence of 2012’s The Hipsters.

Catchy and descriptive, Deacon Blue’s music enjoyed significant commercial success with millions of albums sold, 12 UK Top 40 singles and two number one albums in the UK.

And we’ve no doubt the chorus for Real Gone Kid will be ringing out in all corners of the city…
