Dubai World Cup Horse Race

The Dubai World Cup Carnival is an annual racing event, comprising various activities and racing held regularly. The weekend events are fun for whole family. Horse Racing at Meydan forms a part of the Carnival, with the five-month season beginning on November 2011 and lasting until the closing program, which includes the spectacular Dubai World Cup, on 31st March 2012.

The entire racing season is split into three parts - Racing at Meydan, the Dubai World Cup Carnival and Dubai World Cup Race Meeting. The Dubai World Cup Carnival (DWCC) begins on 5th January 2012 and ends on 31st March 2012. The DWCC annually attracts some of the finest horses in the world, and there will be at least 16 DWCC race-meetings held over the three month span, including the Dubai World Cup.

The DWCC draws the brightest stars of international horseracing community. Horsemen from across the world come to race and enjoy the prestige and luxury of competing at Meydan Racecourse.

The DWCC at Meydan has a global appeal and is held annually attracting the best runners from across the world, including the USA, Great Britain, France, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Hong Kong and Australia, to name a few.

Meanwhile, the Dubai World Cup, known as "World’s richest day in racing", will involve a total of nine races for the first time in 2012.

The 2012 Meydan Racing will be the third season of racing to be held at the Meydan Racecourse. Last year’s event saw Japan’s Victoire Pisa being crowned as Dubai World Champion.

The Meydan Racecourse comprises 1750m all-weather surface, and 2400m turf course. This unique development features the Meydan Grandstand, and houses atleast 60,000 spectators, and includes the world’s first five-star trackside hotel named ‘The Meydan’, Meydan Grandstand Suites, Meydan Museum and Gallery, Meydan Marina and Falcon Commercial Park free-zone offices.
