Dubai Marathon 2012

The title sponsor of the event, Standard Chartered Bank is a leading international bank chain. The Standard Chartered marathons usually span four continents, bringing together and inspiring communities to lead healthier lifestyles.

During the months October to June, Standard Chartered marathons are organized in various places including Jersey, Nairobi, Singapore, Bangkok, Dubai, Mumbai, Failaka Islands, Hong Kong and Kaula Lumpur. While some participants run in costume, some run for charity, while others participate to push their physical and mental limits.

The Standard Chartered Marathon 2012 will begin in Downtown Dubai adjacent to Burj Khalifa. The marathon will begin from the start gantry location outside the Burj Khalifa pavilion, and will finish on the opposite side of the road from the start gantry.

The marathon course is flat and fast, and includes 10km Road Race and 3km Fun Run. The Metro will be opened early on the race day to facilitate travel of the large number of participants and spectators of the event. The taxi drop off and collection point will be organized near the Dubai Mall. The participants can collect their run numbers on 25th and 26th January 2012 at the Address Hotel Dubai Mall by providing proof of identity.

All the participants will be given an Adidas Climacool official race T/shirt, a finisher’s medal, and certificate. Drinking water stations will also be provided for every 2.5km from the start to finish of the race. Toilets, ambulance and medical station will also be made available. The baggage trucks will be available near the start and finish areas in Downtown Dubai, opposite Burj Khalifa. There will be live banks and DJs at the start and finish areas throughout the day to entertain the spectators at the Burj park.

Marathon - 7:00am
10km Road Race - 7.15am
3km Fun Run - 10:30am
