Launched in 2003, the Emirates Airline Dubai Jazz Festival, popularly known as Jazz Fest has been successful in drawing thousands of music lovers over the years. It is the biggest and most awarded and longest running music festival in the region. The Dubai Jazz Festival is also the first-ever multi-day music event which caters to all tastes from Jazz and Blues, to Pop and Rock.
Over the year, the festival has drawn more than 370,000 spectators, top international and local brands and hundreds of artists too including The Script, Santana, Deep Purple, Jools Holland, Jason Mraz, David Gray, Alison Moyet, Train, Macy Gray to name a few.
In the year 2014 too, there was a fantastic line-up of world-class artists performing with a unique Take on Jazz, Pop and Rock, all through the eight days. As for the Jazz Garden, it delivered amazing shows which made the audience livelier and more energetic at the end of each night.
The Dubai Jazz is also the most popular multi-day festival in the region and the most rewarded music event with eleven acclaimed awards in the record. The Dubai Jazz Festival has grown to an annual icon, featuring world-class artists and performers covering all genres of Jazz music, as diverse as blues, funk, swing, acid, rock, modern, contemporary and fusion.
The Dubai Jazz Festival is also the only festival that brings Jazz to large audiences who wouldn’t otherwise normally hear it. The concept was based on two elements 0 corporate sponsorship and programming, which combines jazz with other music genres.
As part of its mission, the festival welcomes considerable number of proficient craftsmen who look forward to be part of the event, as it combines not only music, but multi-artistic elements and appreciative audience of all kinds of human creativity, be it music, crafts, photography, painting or sculpture.
The first day of the festival will play the James Blunt, wherein the musician will be back in Dubai for the third time now, and each time he has performed, it has been a hit. Christina Perri who grew popular in 2010-11, will join him on stage.
The second night of the fest will include Rock and Roll, and Songwriters hall-of-famer and musical genius, Sting, performing on stage. Sting has already bagged several awards and will be accompanied by Lindsey Stirling, the American performance artist. Lindsey is a violinist and a dancer.
The third night will feature the talented and smooth John Legend, performing on stage alongside up-and-coming jazz artist Esperanza Spalding.
The festival maintains a laid-back atmosphere, all arranged in an exquisite concert set-up from Front pit to the Golden Circle, the regular standing and finally the high-end VIP area dedicated for sponsors and corporate concert-goers, a special zone for VIP individuals.
The area includes a comfortably placed F&B section and an interesting Arts and Crafts Exhibition too. The main gigs of the Jazz Fest 2015 will be from 25th February to 27th February and the location will be positioned at Dubai Media City Amphitheatre. Tickets are priced at Dh.395 for regular standing, Dh.750 for Golden Circle, Dh.995 for Fan pit, and Dh.1250 for VIP lounge.
