Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships 2012

Organized by the Dubai Duty Free, the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships is an annual professional tennis tournament. They were being held at the Aviation Club Tennis Centre in Dubai, since its inauguration in 1993. It includes both mens and womens Championships.

The year 2010 was the 18th anniversary of the men’s open and the 10th anniversary of the women's open. This sporting event is held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Here, the spectators get to enjoy the picturesque surroundings of the Aviation Club, including the popular Irish Village, the best pub for the past four years, and the Century Village. There are also a range of dining options at the club, and several recreational and entertainment amenities, including their own gymnasium and the Akaru Spa.

The Aviation Clubhouse is restricted to players, members, officials, VIPs and corporate sponsors only during the week of the tournament.

The Dubai Tennis Stadium was officially unveiled in 1996, and thereafter, has been voted as the ‘Best Venue’ by the players on the ATP World Tour for three successive years. Located in the grounds of the Aviation Club Tennis Centre, the stadium is self-contained, comprising 5000 seat capacity, a central court, VIP area, and Royal enclosure, press office, sports world media group offices, ATP World Tour offices, TV commentary boxes, Sony Ericsson WTA and changing rooms. When the stadium is not being used for Dubai Tennis Championships, it becomes a leading concert venue, hosting various other plays and games.

When taking a walk through the Dubai Tennis Championships exhibition area, you get to see a range of products displayed by several sponsors, supporting tournaments this year. The exhibition area is located on the southern side of the stadium.
