Held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammad Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, the ODDC has completed more than 25 successful years. The ODDC was born in 1989 when the European Tour visited Middle East for the first time.
Promoted and organized by golf in Dubai', the ODDC is the longest running professional tour event in the region. Apart from carrying the distinction of being the Middle East Swing, the tournament has also established itself as one of the leading tournaments on the European Tour.
The 2015 edition will once again be held at the most prestigious golfing venue in the region, Emirates Golf Club, with best players in the world competing on the renowned Majlis Course.
There are seven different major Champions in the roll of honour. The $2.5million tournament is promoted and organized by golf in Dubai. Last year, being the 25th anniversary, all former champions gathered to mark the special occasion.
Ernie Els recorded the maximum number of wins so far with a win each in 1994, 2002 and 2005. Stephen Gallacher of Scotland created history, becoming the first golfer to successfully defend his title.
Last year being the ODDC silver jubilee celebrations, the organizers offered a handsome $2.5mn purse for a hole in one on the part 4, 17th. The prize was valid for last two rounds, and went unclaimed, despite several golfers driving the green.
The Tournament Village is located in proximity to the venue entrance to ensure entry of maximum visitors. It includes features like giant LED screen, activities for all age groups, public catering facility, and is more of a social hub in its own way, with the right ambience.
Located centrally within the iconic Emirates Golf Club Clubhouse, the ODDC Hospitality provides the ideal opportunity to entertain guests with high-standard service and cuisine. The packages include access to Emirates Golf Club Clubhouse, continental breakfast, lunch buffet and afternoon tea service, alcoholic and soft beverages, preferred VIP car parking, official event programme and daily draw-sheets.
