The Palm Islands, Jumeirah, Jebel Ali and Deira are the world's
three largest man-made islands being built on the coast of Dubai
by developers Nakheel. The projects will increase the shoreline
by 120km while creating residences and leisure facilities. Often
described as The Eighth Wonder of the World, the islands are
in the shape of date palms. The palm islands of Jumeirah and
Jebel Ali consist of trunk, crown with 17 fronds and a surrounding
crescent island - the back of which forms the breakwater. Palm
Deira will be the largest of the three islands, and the residential
area will be located on the 41 fronds. The Palm Jumeirah is
the earliest of the three Palm Islands. Many of the residents
are set to move into their new homes next year.
The villas in the Nakheel development are in the final stages
of construction and have attracted interest from buyers from
all parts of the globe Many residents of the towers in Dubai
Marina enjoy striking views of the Palm Jumeirah. There are
hundreds of villas, residential towers and theme parks currently
under planning, development and construction in the Palm Jumeirah.
Among the schemes are Atlantis the Palm, the Palm Trump Towers
and other hotels and residential projects.
The Palm Jebel Ali will be the second of Nakheel's three palm
projects to be completed, with construction set to finish in
2010. Sales of plots on the huge development are progressing
swiftly.
