A city within a city, Dubai Marina is a waterfront development
comparable to other such developments in the world. The man-made
marina is located near Interchange 5 Shaikh Zayed Road close
to landmarks like Dubai Internet City and the Emirates
Golf Club. With more than 20,000 apartments to be built,
the Marina will be home to about 80,000 people and is one of
Emaar Properties prestigious residential clusters. About 70
towers are currently being constructed. There are 700 berths
for boat owners. Apart from other facilities, the Marina is
also lined with restaurants, offering various cuisines and fine
means in idyllic setting. Inland from Dubai Marina are a string
of huge new residential developments from Emaar, among them
The Springs and The Meadows.
Building work on many of the towers in Dubai Marina, close
to Interchange 5 of Shaikh Zayed Road, is now completed and
hundreds of residents are already enjoying the experience of
waterfront living in one of Dubai's most prestigious locations.
The area is popular with boating enthusiasts.
Many residents have expressed amazement at the speed and efficiency
with which the buildings of the Dubai Marina development emerged
from the ground, most of them being built simultaneously. At
one stage the project had the highest concentration of cranes
in the Dubai area as hundreds of workers crafted the buildings.
There are about 70 towers in the Dubai Marina development,
including office towers, residential buildings and hotels. Some
of the most striking buildings in Dubai are located in the scheme,
creating a whole new downtown area for the city.
Dubai Marina exemplifies what is known as "New Dubai"
and contains what has been described as the world's largest
man-made marina, taking the record from Marina del Rey in Los
Angeles, California.
