Dubai witnesses increase in residence visa applicants

According to senior officials from health and immigration departments, the number of people requiring new residence visas is growing steadily.

The Director General of Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Qadi Saeed Al Murooshid, when speaking during the inauguration of a medical fitness test centre at the Knowledge Village, mentioned that the number of people at the medical centres has grown and more new centres will be opened, including one at Jebel Ali shortly.

Expatriates are required to undergo several medical tests, including those for Hepatitis C and HIV for new residence visa or for renewed residence visas.

The Director General of the Dubai Department for Residency and Foreign Affairs, also the Director General of Dubai Department for Residency and Foreigners Affairs, Maj. Gen. Mohammad Ahmad Al Merri, confirmed that the number of people entering Dubai is increasing.

Last year, the number of people who underwent the medical tests were 500,000. But, this year the number has already reached 450,000 by end of October, said Maisa Al Bustani, Director of Medical Fitness Services department in DHA.

The collaboration with Tecom Investments is a step in the right direction, particularly, with large number of employees and companies operating out of its clusters, said Al Bustani.

Meanwhile, CEO of Tecom Investments, Abdul Latif Al Mulla agreed that there has been a consistent increase in demand for visa applications across all 11 business parks.
