Global Village opens up to visitors in Dubai

Dubai is once again in a festive mood beginning Sunday, with the Global Village having opened with a revamped layout meant to offer visitors easier access to the pavilions.

Themes of four main cultures – African, European, Arabian and Indo-Asia have been opened in its gates 1, 3, 4 and 5 and therefore, visitors will find it easier to visit their preferred pavilions.

A member of Tatweer, the much-renowned cultural and entertainment event in Dubailand will run for 98 days until 27th February 2010.

Launching its 14th edition, Global Village involves participation of more than 45 different cultures within 31 pavilions. This year’s edition of Global Village is a well-rounded celebration with about 6000 shows and performances during DSF days

Among the major highlights of these cultural performances are thrilling Human Cannonball, the unique Chinese Flying Pole Show, the energetic Bounce Trampoline Stunt Show, the stunning pyrotechnics in Art of Fire, the splendid multi-cultural activities on the Community Stage and the classic display of various heritages at the World Culture Stage.

Other major attractions include scenic ride through the man-made canal in the park, cultural performances in front of the pavilions, bigger and improved fun fair rides, weekend firework displays and amazing surprises during festive occasions.

Global Village offers best quality amenities with a range of services including 2 Mosques, 29 restrooms, 20 restaurants, 6 ATM machines, 3 money exchange stalls, ambulances, guest relation centres, Lost and Found department, services for the disabled and a huge parking lot with a capacity to accommodate up to 16,500 vehicles. Safety aspects of the visitors are also given due importance in the Village.

Global Village is open to public from 4pm to midnight except on all days except on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays when it is extended until 1am. Mondays are earmarked exclusively to families. Tickets are priced at Dh.10 each and a VIP pack is also available.
