Largest indoor family park in Dubai, now open to visitors
Dubai residents can hope for more fun this Eid, with the opening of the regions largest indoor family theme park on the first day of Eid.
The soft opening of Stargate in Zabeel Park, which is said to be housing one of the world’s largest soft play area, was announced during a media tour of the facility on Wednesday.
The park is designed as a spaceship containing five space domes, with the centre spread across an area of 400,000 square feet, meant to accommodate about 4million visitors during its first year.
Considered to be the ‘futuristic edutainment centre’, the Dh.450mn project is developed by Osus Facilities Management on a BOT contract with Dubai Muncipality, which manages the parks and beaches in the emirate.
Stargate’s Futuristic Academy promises to offer high-quality edutainment facility with a blend of fun and learning. Being the first-of-its-kind facility in the region, the Academy is made up of five pods, with an overhead screen with 3D content. The 3D theatre will screen 3D animation movies on space-based themes including the Apollo 11’s mission to the moon.
While adult racing enthusiasts can hope to explore the wheel-to-wheel-racing on the karts, the younger ones can go on a merry-ride with bumper cars. Visitors also get to enjoy the ice skating on the ice rink in the Lunar Dome. The park also houses In Motion Club, which offers unique fitness solutions combining exercise and entertainment for children.
‘NEST’, a care center for kids below five years, a food court, a space mall, are among other features of the theme park, which offers identification tags, locator devices, and wi-fi network for visitors.
According to Director of Horticulture and Public Parks Department of Dubai Municipality, Ahmed Abdul Kareem, Zabeel Park would be developed into a techno-park offering variety of entertainment projects for children and families.
The entry to Stargate is free of charge, except for the entry fee of Dh.5 to Zabeel Park. Visitors get to purchase a swiping card for Dh.2 at stargate and can top up the credit, based on the fee of riders or facilities they opt to use. There is no requirement for separate swiping cards for members of one family. A single card can be used and recharged when required with the amount to be swiped for individual users of the facility.
