First phase of Trade Center Plaza to be unveiled this month
The Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC), which operates one of the largest convention facilities in the region, yesterday revealed that the first phase of its new Trade Center Plaza is due for opening this month.
This new facility is being built on the existing parking lot, in proximity to Shaikh Zayed Road, within a short distance from the new DWTC Metro Station. The new plaza will include a mix of restaurants and cafes.
This new facility will offer an additional entertainment for more than a million DWTC visitors year after year, as it is hoped that atleast 30 percent of the DWTC visitors will arrive from the new DWTC Metro station, via the new Trade Center Plaza, a statement said.
The Trade Center Plaza is a large open space, located between DWTC Exhibition Gate and the DWTC Metro Station, which can host few exhibitions, entertainments and events.
It is hoped that this performance space will be utilized during the DWTC extensive calendar, and also carefully managed to accommodate open air events for the public at all times, the DWTC said.
Located adjacent to the Trade Centre Plaza, is the Shaikh Saeed Halls, the four new interlinked halls which include the Trade Centre Arena, a multi-purpose space that hosts concerts for a maximum of 10,000 guests in an air-conditioned all-weather environment.
The Trade Centre Plaza will be the gateway to the DWTC complex with amenities such as restaurants, retails, coffee shops, shaded areas, temporary open exhibits, and easy access to the new Metro, hoped to offer business and leisure travelers with unconditional entertainment.
The new Trade Center Plaza will also include an open area called the ‘Palm Garden’, where exhibitors’ gala dinners could be held during exhibitions. The Palm Garden will also function as an informal entertainment area, wherein the public will get to enjoy screenings of live sporting events on a large visual screen, similar to those found in several other major cities of the world.
The CEO of DWTC, Hilal Saeed Al Merri, agreed that they have noticed continued growth in visitors to venues during the first half of the year, and the demand for conveniences and world-class amenities has grown.
The addition of the new Trade Centre Plaza is a good example of how the DWTC continues to find ways in which, to enhance the overall customer experience and support the growth.
