Dubai Metro opens to public on 10th September

Dubai Metro will be officially launched on 9th September, although it will be open to public only on September 10th between 10am and 6pm, a senior official at the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority has announced.

The Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, H.H. Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, will inaugurate the Metro operations at 9pm on 9th September 2009, during a launch ceremony to be held at the Mall of Emirates.

Following the ceremony, Shaikh Mohammed, along with other dignitaries will ride the first train from the Mall of Emirates station to Al Rashidiya station.

RTA employees have been using the train as a part of full rehearsal, before the official launch. They are also inspecting the various facilities at the station and inside the trains to ensure that all is well before the launch.
