Abu Dhabi to build 17,000 new villas for nationals

About 17,000 new villas in 23 locations are to be built for citizens during the next five years, the Director General of the Abu Dhabi Centre for Housing and Service Facilities Development (ADCHSFD), Khamis Sultan al Suwaidi, confirmed on Tuesday.

The small and medium sized villas planned by the Centre are currently under construction. Several major construction companies are working on the project, and one of these is Aldar Properties.

The villas are likely to come up in Al Gharbia in the Western Region, Al Shamkha in Abu Dhabi and in Al Ain. The Urban Planning Council (UPC), the agency responsible for the future physical planning of Abu Dhabi, has said that ADCHSFD has outlined a five-year development strategy for the emirate, with 23 projects that will be included in the five-year strategy.

The new Centre will also oversee 43 sq km ‘South of Shamkha’ development, comprising about 10,500 villas, and a smaller 168-villa project, close to Aldar’s 5000 villas at Al Falah.

According to Suwaidi, the Government wants locals to have a high quality lifestyle.

The Abu Dhabi-based property developer, Aldar properties last month confirmed that it had signed deals with three contractors, focussing on delivering 5000 villas at Al Falah. The contractors chosen for the project are Al Jaber Building LLC, El Seif Engineering Contracting and Abu Dhabi-Malaysian firm Pembinaan.

Al Falah is a master-planned community for UAE nationals, which forms a part of the Plan Abu Dhabi 2030 initiative. The development was launched early this year at the Cityscape Abu Dhabi Exhibition, and is hoped to offer 5000 homes to UAE families.

Located along the east of Abu Dhabi International Airport and the Abu Dhabi-Dubai highway, Al Falah has been designed as a sustainable community within a development area of nearly 12 million square meters.

The ADCHSFD is responsible for monitoring the implementation of major housing and infrastructure projects in the emirate.
