Burj Dubai behind schedule by three months

Completion of Burj Dubai, the tallest tower in the world, is three months behind schedule.

The tower, which was initially hoped to ready for soft launch on September 9th this year, to coincide with the launch of first phase of Dubai Metro, has much to be done on both interior and exterior of the tower, according to project contractors.

According to contractors, the work is not expected to finish until December. According to a spokesman, Emaar, the project developer, had never given an official opening date. However, the delay is yet to be confirmed by the Emaar Properties.

Burj Dubai is a part of the Dh.73.4billion Downtown Burj Dubai development and is considered as one of the landmark projects in the emirate. Designed by Skidmore, Owings and Merril, who are also the designers of the renowned Sears Tower in Chicago and 1 World Trade Center in New York City, the building resembles the bundled tube form of Sears Tower, although not the tube structure.
