Dubai Metro to arrive on 9th September

Visitors to the Diera City will no-longer have to wait endlessly in queues for getting into taxis, as they will be able to take the Metro, beginning 9th September, the Gulf News reported.

The Metro Station, named as City Center Station, located adjacent to the popular shopping mall, apart from serving visitors to the mall, will also serve those working in banks, hotels, airline offices and offices in the Port Saeed area of Deira.

It is the first underground station on the Red Line, when coming from Dubai airport and Al Rashidiyah, built under the intersection on Al Ittihad Road, linking Street 14. It is located between the Dnata building intersection and the Floating bridge intersection.

Dubai Metro has four access points, which offers access to commuters on all four sides of the intersection. The City Center Station was largely built to form an alternate transport mode for shoppers to Deira City Center, one of the first air-conditioned malls, built in Dubai.

The mall, apart from housing several hundreds of stores offering variety of shopping, also includes food courts, cinema complex and other entertainment options catering to people of all age groups.

The Dubai Shopping Center is another smaller mall located adjacent to the station. There are also several leading banks located within 10 minutes walking distance from the station.

There are about a dozen three star and five star hotels in the vicinity, all located within walkable distance. The offices of the Ministry of Energy and Etisalat are located within 10-minute walking distance.

People seeking to visit the Dnata Building, which houses several airline offices in Dubai, can also use the City Center Station.

It is hoped to be one of the most convenient stations for commuters from Sharjah, as they can park their cars, ride the Metro, to continue their journey using the Red Line to their destinations on the way to Jebel Ali. There are also ample parking facilities available around the station.

Visitors to the Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht club will find Dubai Metro easily accessible. It is one among the top 100 must pay golf courses in the world, which incorporates 18-hole golf course, residential villas, a five start hotel and 121-berth marina.
