Indian expats relieved as Empost reduces courier charges

Much to the relief of Indian expatriates in the UAE, the Empost has reduced courier delivery charges from Dh50 to Dh30.

Earlier Empost had increased charges from Dh.15 to Dh.50, which led to series of demands by the Indian community to stop all outsourced consular services from the UAE.

The passport and visa services were outsourced to Empost earlier during the year by the Indian Consulate in Dubai and Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi. All attestation work continues to take place at the diplomatic missions.

According to Consul General of India, Venu Rajamony, the discussions between Empost and Consulate had led to reduction in courier charges, and Empost had shown considerable understanding about the matter, and more such announcements are in pipeline.
