Global Village breaks world record on its opening day

On the first day of its launch, the Global Village saw large-scale entry of visitors that is said to have surpassed any entry in the Guinness Book of World Records for the most number of children being read to by adults in a single location.

This new record involves 3,032 children being read to by 87 adults at the Global Village Amphitheatre last November 12th. This beats the earlier world record which involved 1632 children read to by 47 adults.

The historic event received wide media attention as it coincided with the fourth world records international day organized by the Guinness.

School Children from the Kindergarten Starters, a GEMS School in Garhoud, apart from achieving world record, also contributed 3,032 books for the Million Book Challenge for Dubai Cares.

Every child in this event will receive an individual world record certificate to commemorate the event.

The event marked the opening of the unique Guinness World Records Pavilion, wherein guests are encouraged to participate in breaking one record per week.
