Gitex Consumer Electronics Expo generates good visitor response

With the Gitex Shopper and Consumer Electronics Exhibition coming to an end, organizers and vendors are confident that this year event will surpass that of last year in terms of sales and visitor numbers.

Although the sales figures are yet to be out, according to the exhibitors, several thousands of mobile phones, televisions, laptops and other electronic gadgets have been sold during the week-long shopping at the Airport Expo.

According to Trixie Loh, the Senior Vice President – Exhibitions and Events, Dubai World Trade Center, this year’s new inclusion, the gaming element, and new exhibitors such as as Etisalat and Acer, have helped in attracting more consumers.

The inclusion of new gaming element in this 18th edition of Gitex has helped gain lot of attention. Being dubbed as “Gitex Digital Game World”, this new gaming element has gained attention of all, from tech-savvy to novice consumers. It offers a combination of gaming activities, including online PC and console-based gaming, live entertainment, world’s latest game releases, interactive booths and stage presentations. Shoppers could try out blockbuster games, including the Crysis, FarCry, Warhead, FIFA 2009, Warcraft 3 and the likes. They could also get a seat in an original replica of BMW Intel F1 racer and compete with top drivers in the world.

According to Aman Khan, Marketing Manager – Middle East, Acer Computers, Gitex Shopper 2008 has been a wonderful event, as it has provided his company with ideal platform to reach out to customers and allow them to experience Acer’s gaming PC.

“This year’s turnout has surpassed all our expectations, with more than 800 interest buyers who have registered at the event. We are happy with the quality of visitors too,” said Khan.
