DNRD announces new Mobile Visa service facility
The Dubai Naturalization and Residency Department (DNRD) introduced a new service that helps notify the issuance of an entry visa permit through an instant message service.
With the newly launched mobile M-Visa service, customers can track their applications online at www.ednrd.ae, and make relevant payments. Once done, the visa will be sent by e-mail or through text message, which can be scanned and produced. This replaces the customary paper-mandated visas.
Customers receive instant notification when their visas are issued, either through e-mail or an SMS. The e-mailed visa documents will be in the form of secure PDF format, with DNRD logo, and Director’s signature. The SMS will include the same barcode printed on the original 2D document and can be sent to any destination. The same notification will also be received by the UAE sponsor.
The Director of DNRD, Maj. Gen. Mohammad Ahmad Al Merri, said the use of M-Visa is an easy, secure and convenient process that helps reduce waiting time.
The DNRD check points set up at the UAE entry points have the capacity to read the details of entry permits directly from mobile devices.
The service will get effective from January 2009.
