UAE Expats will have to pay Dh110 for refund of visit visa deposit
Expatriates will now have to pay a fee, even to gain refund of their visa deposit, thereby making the entire procedure of gaining a visit visa more expensive.
Henceforth, a fee of Dh110 will be charged for expats seeking refund of the Dh2000 deposit which they have to pay to obtain a visit visa for their friends.
This decision was endorsed by the Ministry of Interior and was circulated at the Residency Departments across the UAE. The decision states that all those who applied for the visa, paying Dh.2000, will have to pay Dh.110 to get their money back.
Based on this decision, the residency department will charge Dh.100 at its cancelation counter as refund fee, and Dh.10 will be charged by banks to issue the refund cheque.
This decision has already been implemented at all Naturalization and Residency Departments across UAE, except in Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department (DNRD). DNRD is currently charging only Dh.10 to issue the refund cheque.
A new rule was issued by the Ministry of Interior in June, which said that Dh.2000 need to be paid as refundable deposit for any kind of a visa.
