Atlantis, the premier resort at the Palm Jumeirah Island, has been unveiled to the public. The opening of the highly-awaited first integrated resort real estate property is expected to add huge tourism potential to the UAE emirate.
The ocean-themed destination resort, located at the center of the crescent of the man-made Palm Jumeirah, is a US$1.5bn joint venture project developed by the Dubai Government, and owned by Istithmar.
The resort covers a 46 hectares site, with 17 hectares dedicated for water park amusements. Each of the 1539 guestrooms and suites in the Royal Towers feature private balconies and views of the Gulf or the Palm Jumeirah. The rates of the room start at Dh.1675 per night and guests get to choose from a variety of accommodation, including salt, freshwater attractions and adventures, and an open-air marine habitat, the focal point of the resort for both visitors and the guests.
Atlantis, the Palm offers an unprecedented entertainment center, an impressive collection of luxury shops and boutiques and a wide range of meeting and convention amenities. With about 65,000 marine animals in the lagoons, it will be home to one of the largest open-air marine habitats in the world, and will display an array of underwater corridors and passageways, offering journey through ancient Atlantis, including ‘The Lost Chambers’.
The President and Managing Director of Kerzner International, Alan Leibman, said “Following intense development for a prolonged period by a team of 3000, we are proud to introduce Atlantis, The Palm to our first guests. It is an entertainment destination truly different than anything currently existing in the resort category in the region.”
