Planet Group proposes to invest $463mn in Abu Dhabi hotels

Planet Group, a Dubai-based company is likely to invest in two hotels in Abu Dhabi, and one in Beirut.

These will include a 420 unit serviced apartment complex, apart from 400 room major five-star Planet Hotel in Danet Dubai. These together form Dh1bn worth of projects.

Planet Group is also developing a beach resort on prime land on the hills near Beirut, with development value worth $200mn. The Abu Dhabi will be the next major destination for tourism, with the government proposing to develop several islands to attract tourists to the emirate. At present, the group operates two hotels with 172 room Arabian Courtyard Hotel in Bur Dubai and a 69 rooms hotel in Deira, Galaxy Plaza.

The group includes 11 companies offering travel, tourism, exhibition, conference, and site seeing and ground handling, which are both in-bound and out-bound. It has also recently entered into hotel operation and management. The interest of the group also includes real estate and construction.

Apart from the $200mn beach resort in Beirut, the Planet Group is also finalizing deal with Ras Al Khaimah, Ajman and Fujairah, with the same.

The Planet Group was established in 1989 as travel and tourism establishment to serve the growing needs of tourism sector, and also represents several airlines as general sales agents in Dubai. Planet helped the tourism sector of the country grow, while also taking advantage of the growth in the industry. The group is now undergoing global expansion with offices in key tourism markets such as Europe, Asia, Africa and Middle East.
