In a survey comprising 15 destinations, UAE has been ranked as the second best place to live, and has been found to offer the most luxurious lifestyle for expatriates.
Singapore is considered as the best place overall by expatriates, while Britain and France have been the least favoured places.
The US also ranked on par with UAE as the second best place for expatriates. Singapore has been highly rated for its quality accommodation, and closely follows UAE in offering luxurious living.
Expatriates from India, Hong Kong and Singapore have been found to earn the highest salaries in the world.
Australia, although scored highly on levels of luxury, ability to earn and save accommodation, scored low on duration of stay by expatriates.
The Survey noticed that despite the present economic condition, although expatriates spent more, but still managed to save. The top countries for saving were found to be India, UAE and Singapore. It was found that the low cost of living in India, enabled 82 percent of expatriates to save more than what they would have saved in their own countries.
However, Europe has been ranked as best when it came to duration of expatriate stay and settling down. About 82 percent of expatriates, now residing in Netherlands have been residing there for more than three years, followed by Germany at 77 percent.
The Survey, commissioned by British Banking Group, HSBC, was based on the topic "the opportunities, challenges and difficulties that come with life away from home." The survey included 2,155 respondents from 49 countries and territories. But the ranks were awarded to only those that received more than 30 responses.
