New Visa rule in UAE effective 29th July 2008
As per the new visa rules, likely to be executed from 29th July, people belonging to all nationalities will be permitted to enter the country only on a tourist visa.
According to earlier visa rules, the nationals from 79 countries were banned from being granted tourist visas and were able to visit UAE only on visit visa. However, they could apply for tourist visa through a licensed hotel or tourism agency.
The DNRD (Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department) Deputy General Manager, Maj. Gen. Mohammad Ahmad Al Merri, the new rules will promote tourism sector in the country.
The new visa rule in UAE also mandates the 34 Nationalites to pay Dh.100 for a 30-day visit visa, which earlier was otherwise, a free visit visa for 60 days on arrival at UAE.
People who apply for visa prior to 29th July 2008 will be dealth with as per existing visa policies.
