Budget hotel groups are making their presence felt in the UAE through the launch of few excellent projects. Global and regional hotel groups are targeting budget travelers through the launch of economy brands all over UAE.
During the past year, Express by Holiday Inn and Premier Inn have launched their first hotels in Dubai. The first easyHotel is due to open next year. Hoteliers are of the opinion that the new sector will spur intra-regional and inbound travel to the UAE.
The Director of Marketing, IHG-Middle East and Africa, Haitham Mattar, revealed that budget hotel accommodation plays a major role in boosting tourism levels to UAE, with low cost accommodation as an alternative. For years, the UAE market has been dominated by luxury hotel accommodation, and this has kept away several travelers from visiting the region.
The Middle East market has a tendency to launch high-quality internationally branded hotels that emphasize on great value for money. Now travelers to the region can also consider the option of limited service accommodation, which is an economical alternative to several other hotels being offered in the region, he added.
During last July, the IHG opened Express by Holiday Inn in Dubai Internet City, marking the first limited-service hotel of the group in Middle East. Although the budget hotels in UAE are only limited in numbers, the market is all set to witness a boom. With increase in cost of living here and around the world, people are getting more conscious about the price of accommodation.
According to Emirates Group, Budget hotels in Dubai, currently cover less than one percent of available supply, as against 18 percent in Europe and 30 percent in USA. With an increasing demand for affordable accommodation Dubai will require a minimum of 5000 rooms in this sector during short or medium-term.
These low-cost alternatives are aimed at business travelers, holidaymakers and families, who emphasize on being placed and provide no-frills quality service offering great value for money.
The CEO of Nakheel Hotels, Joe Sita, explains that Easyhotels.com is just right for the savvy traveler who recognizes choice. From the business sector and global tourists to local tourists, these hotels offer great product in Dubai.
The hotels have received a good welcome in achieving above-market occupancy rates, while the Emirates group predicts that there will be 80 percent occupancy at the Premiere Inn at Dubai Investment Park.
Apart from the hotels that are already opened, the other budget hotels to be opened are the five easyHotels in Jebel Ali by Nakheel, Waterfront at Dubai Maritime City, Al Garhoud and Karama, while InterContinental will open their third Holiday Inn Express in Jumeirah later this year.
