New city in Abu Dhabi Municipality to house population of one million

The Abu Dhabi Municipality has made plans for establishing a new city at Southern Al Shamaka area. The city has the capacity to accommodate about one million people.

The Abu Dhabi Municipality and Town Planning Department (ADM) is currently distributing about 1000 residential plots of land to citizens to build housing units.

According to CEO of the services sector at Abu Dhabi Municipality, Eng Salim Al Moamari, the project aims to solve the housing problem, and is looking to attract residents from capital to new cities, such as the Al Shamkha City.

The design includes all amenities, taking into consideration all elements required to live in a decent living environment.

The Central part of the city will include 21 shopping malls, a big hotel, offices, recreation areas, retail stores, sports stadium, and public yards for national events and ceremonies and much more.

The project will later on be expanded to cover an area of 43million hectares, transforming the project to an area of attraction for residents, offering excellent services, and expanding over several residential compounds along the Emirates highway. This in-turn will offer more services and easy access to Al Ain, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi through modern transport network.
