The Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) has announced plans to establish the first dedicated executive airport in the Middle East at Al Bateen military airbase, which is about 10kms away from the Abu Dhabi City Center.
The Bateen facility will be developed as an exclusive corporate jet facility with an investment of more than Dh200mn with additional facilities at the airport.
ADAC will develop a 'one-stop shop' business jet facility, offering VVIP and VIP passenger terminals, maintenance, airport services, fuel, repair and overhaul, and handling other fixed-base operational services.
The 3200 meters runway airport can accommodate a range of aircraft sizes and types, from smaller corporate jets to Boeing Business Jets or Boeing 737-800s. Aircrafts can park themselves at one of the 30 odd stands and passengers can have access through three passenger terminals.
The Chairman and Managing Director of ADAC, Khalifa Al Mazrouei, said “With the growing center of international business and finance, Abu Dhabi has witnessed considerable growth in corporate jets entering the city during the last couple of years. Through this development, we have been able to meet the demand today and into the future.”
With its unique strategic location, located minutes away from the heart of capital city, the facilities already in place, it permits to accommodate more corporate jet operations immediately. Together with the investment programme, we wish to create one to the best executive airports in the world, he added.
Bateen Airport facility includes a third airport to ADAC’s portfolio of aviation amenities. ADAC plans to operate several island airports at Delma and Sir Baniyas to support the tourist trade via air taxis operating from Bateen and Abu Dhabi International Airport. ADAC is constructing vast manufacturing, maintenance and logistics facilities at the International Airport and Al Ain International Airport.
